Branko
with Ivanka, his girlfriend of 11 years. They had been together
since the school days and through all the glorious, although
at times difficult and very chaotic, years of establishing Dzuboks
as the premier Yugoslav rock and roll monthly. Ivanka was more
than a girlfriend to Branko. Her English language skills being
superior to anyone else’s in Dzuboks, she taught us the
correct pronunciations of all the foreign bands, deciphered
lyrics, explained double meanings, translated a number of books
for Decije Novine (the Publisher of Dzuboks), including the
“Saturday Night Fever" novel and, together with Branko,
"The Muppets Go To Hollywood”.
Ivanka’s parents flat was a frequent meeting spot for
the unruly bunch of journalists, film artists, photographers
and musicians that revolved around Dzuboks. Many a happy hour
was spent in that flat, debating various issues, holding editorial
meetings, watching videos, football, playing video games,
"Risk", amidst tons of witticisms, jokes, food,
drink and cigarettes. Branko and Ivanka had plans to marry
but these never came to pass. Ivanka now lives in Hong Kong.
